Bearded Beers
If you have not tried this beer yet, do yourself a favor and pick one up today. While I'm not usually the biggest fan of New Belgium's lineup, I've really been digging their Belgo India Pale Ale. This addition to the Explore series is perfect for summer drinking with a nice balance between bitter and sweet. Nicely carbonated to keep the drinking smooth, and with a 7%ABV it packs a punch that tends to sneak up on you.
I picked up my sixer at West Lakeview Liquors ,aka The Rooster, on Addison and Leavitt. This place has an amazing selection of craft brew. Stop in next time you're looking for some killer beer.

Anatomy of a clash
Chicago Tribune photographer caught this great and intense photo sequence at the 2012 NATO Summit protests. This seems like a fair trade off to me - if you break a stick on an officers head, you should plan on getting punched by that or another officer.
I'm hoping that the small group of radicals pumping up the tension in these otherwise peaceful protests do not do anything too stupid.

Banana Peel Trucker Hat (for bananas)
Artist Brock Davis' kids were a bit grumpy recently due to the apparent dorkiness of their breakfast. Thanks to a little quick thinking and an x-acto knife, their bananas were suddenly stylish enough to sit with the cool kids.
Brock's art reminded me of one of my favorite breakfast transformations - giving the Land O' Lakes butter lady boobs! Thanks, Dad, for showing me this awesome trick a long, long time ago.
"My kids were grumpy at breakfast this morning, so I had this idea to make a quick banana peel trucker hat for the banana to wear using the peel of the banana. This cheered them up and it made the banana look relatively hip."
-Brock Davis
How to make:
"Banana: Take 1 or 2 bananas. One to make the hat, one to model the hat. This could also be made using one banana. Carve the shape of the hat using an x-acto knife. Leave one of the banana peel sides longer, to make the rim of the hat. Most bananas come with a little sticker. Use this sticker to serve as the logo on the hat, if you want your hat to have a logo.
Simple project, takes about 5 minutes yet the memories will last a lifetime."
-Brock Davis
Boobs: Take 1 box of Land O' Lakes butter. Cut the label off at the knees. Cut off the knees leaving a little space around them. Cut a flap in the part of the box where the lady is holding the butter on three sides (left, right, and bottom) with an x-acto knife. Tape the knees to the back of the box. Lift flap and blow your third grade buddy's minds!
