Manatees - They're not for riding
What she thought was happening:
What was really happening:
The manatee doing his thing:
New resident to Pinellas County, FL, Ana Gloria Garcia Guitierrez has recently come into contact with the long arm of Florida law. A witness photographed and reported the new Floridian genius attempting to mount and ride a manatee, an endangered animal protected by federal law. After a brief, but effective full scale man hunt Guitierrez surrendered herself to authorities with apologies stating that she was unaware this was illegal or in any way frowned upon.
Pinellas County Sheriff, Bob Gualtieri, has been quoted stating "Go ride a Jet Ski. Don't use animals. She has to be held accountable for her actions." He's clearly frustrated and exhausted with this reckless behavior, but I commend him offering a more socially acceptable option for water riding.
Under Florida law molesting or annoying the sacred creature is a second degree misdemeanor, and punishable by death. The manatee is not pressing charges, but did not care to comment.

The Foo hiatus
Foo Fighters front man, Dave Grohl, casually announced that this would their last show for the foreseeable future. During the bands set at the Global Citizen Festival in New York's Central Park this Saturday, Grohl stated "without making a big deal about it, we don't have any shows after this. This is it, man. Honestly, I don't know when we're going to do it again... and this is the perfect place to do it"
Sad news indeed.

The Cuppow
Has anyone seen or used this awesome looking product? The Cuppow looks like an amazing alternative to the ever terrible coffee travel mug and I'm guessing it would have prevented my disgraceful display on the train today.
This morning I committed the cardinal sin of the Chicago public transportation morning commute...

Urinals: Not just for the fellas anymore
... and it's about damn time. Why should men be the only ones allowed to go #1 standing up. Way to go, lady urinal inventor. Kudos to you.
This was taken from a post titled "9 Reasons Why Women Can Have it All" - a truly idiotic article.

Superheroes - HBO Documentaries
This is real. The HBO Documentary from director Michael Barnett, Superheroes, provides a glimpse into the lives of a few Real Life Superheroes (RLSH). The 80 minute film follows these eccentric crusaders as they attempt to rid the streets of violent crime, and help those in need.
A noble cause fueled by delusions? Maybe. But this documentary is absolutely worth the watch.

Shark: "Don't touch my stuff"
I really like how this dipshit, after shrieking in terror, attempts to reel in this "big ass shark". "It's all mine, It's all mine!!!"..... I think you're going to need a bigger net, buddy.

For Esteban!
| Click Here for Full Size Picture |
Steven Foundling created the image of Steve Zissou returning to exact revenge on the Jaguar Shark who ate his closest colleague and senior statesman, Esteban du Plantier. The image shows Papa Steve fearlessly arriving to the battle mounted to a dolphin, weilding a trident, and cocking back to throw a stick of dynamite in the beast's mouth... as promised.

The Big Lebowski 2: The Dude Goes to Washington
The Dude, Walter, sadly not Donnie, Maude, Brant, The Jesus ,and others will be making their way back into the long awaited sequel to the 1998 cult classic, The Big Lebowski. The Cohen brothers bring you yet another story centering around Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski and Walter Sobchak. The two have just learned that their beloved bowling alley will be closed down and destroyed to make way for a new parking garage all at the hands of a corrupt and evil land owner, Bavarian Illuminati, played by Bill Murray
Filming is slated to begin Oct 2012, and shooting for a Summer 2015 release. Great news for Lebowski fans everywhere, but is there any way the sequel in the saga of The Dude can live up to the expectations left predecessor? I'm sure we'll be far from disappointed.

Hey hipsters. Tired of being shunned to the outer circle of that group that you didn't want to be a part of anyway, because you're way too awesome and you just don't care? Thanks to this handmade Beard Coozie, now your PBR tallboy will be able to step up and fill in even more of the blanks left by your missing social skills. You're welcome.

Friday night with Roger Waters
Tonight we get to enjoy the rare experience of seeing Roger Waters perform The Wall at Wrigley Field. I'm planning on having my mind blown. This is especially exciting as my folks will be joining Whit and I. I can distinctly remember being a kid and hearing my dad tell me about the very theatrical shows that Pink Floyd put on when they were still touring. I'm literally counting the minutes.

1000 Awesome Things
#6 The last day of school

#9 Crossing off the last item on your list

#9 Crossing off the last item on your list
1000 Awesome Things is a time ticking countdown of 1000 awesome things. Blog creator Neil Pasricha began his list of all that is awesome after being burnt out on all the negativity found in media and life in general. The author says that at the time of starting the site "If you flipped open the newspaper it was filled with the same stuff every day. The polar ice caps were melting, there were pirates storming the seas, the economy was on the verge of collapse, and there were wars going on all over the world." As a result, he created a website discussing "popping bubble wrap, or snow days, or the smell of a bakery."[
Whenever you're in need of a reminder that you're constantly surrounded by awesomeness, be sure to check out http://www.1000awesomethings.com/ or go pick up The Book of Awesome. Thank you to my awesome wife for telling me about this site.

Banana Peel Trucker Hat (for bananas)
Artist Brock Davis' kids were a bit grumpy recently due to the apparent dorkiness of their breakfast. Thanks to a little quick thinking and an x-acto knife, their bananas were suddenly stylish enough to sit with the cool kids.
Brock's art reminded me of one of my favorite breakfast transformations - giving the Land O' Lakes butter lady boobs! Thanks, Dad, for showing me this awesome trick a long, long time ago.
"My kids were grumpy at breakfast this morning, so I had this idea to make a quick banana peel trucker hat for the banana to wear using the peel of the banana. This cheered them up and it made the banana look relatively hip."
-Brock Davis
How to make:
"Banana: Take 1 or 2 bananas. One to make the hat, one to model the hat. This could also be made using one banana. Carve the shape of the hat using an x-acto knife. Leave one of the banana peel sides longer, to make the rim of the hat. Most bananas come with a little sticker. Use this sticker to serve as the logo on the hat, if you want your hat to have a logo.
Simple project, takes about 5 minutes yet the memories will last a lifetime."
-Brock Davis
Boobs: Take 1 box of Land O' Lakes butter. Cut the label off at the knees. Cut off the knees leaving a little space around them. Cut a flap in the part of the box where the lady is holding the butter on three sides (left, right, and bottom) with an x-acto knife. Tape the knees to the back of the box. Lift flap and blow your third grade buddy's minds!
